Back home

Well I made it back home on Tuesday night and I've been spending the last few days really getting myself together. I've been a wreck mostly, when I'm not running around trying to manage clusterfucks with my accounts and things like that I'm dog tired. It's kinda crappy really.

I'll probably post in bits and pieces during the next two weeks or so. It's funny because some of my blog friends are getting a bit testy that I'm not returning emails as quickly as I used to. There is something to be said about being able to leave your home and not get shot at that is very inviting and I must say I like to do it. During my vacation I'll spend a lot less time around computers and a lot more time in the streets.

The most terrifying day in Iraq

Ken Obi, Mahi Mahi, and I were walking from one of our sites and we see the large thing moving slowly about 50 meters away. What saw that it was a LARGE and when I say large I'm talking 8ft(1.5m) 800lbs (350kg) LARGE. Talk about being overcome with fear we were walking and were looking at a Komodo Dragon for those that don't know what a Komodo Dragon looks like here is your hint.

From my years of National Geographic, Nature, and Discovery Channels. I knew that Komodo Dragons are NOT indegenious to Iraq. So it had to be brought here and it could have escaped a nearby zoo during the events of OIF. Whatever, all I know is it got it out here and from the Nature channel I know that Komodo Dragons

1. Are poisonous
2. Can run in short bursts up to 30 mph (20 kph)
3. Have strong tails that can break legs and is one of the ways that it will subdue its prey.
4. Are know to eat attack and eat humans when hungry.

That being said. We spun 180° and kicked rocks.

Here is a nice little ariticle on why you never want to be near one of those terrible beasts.

More Insect love!

Well fun as always I was working and I heard the sound something rather large running around. Well I look on the ground and see this

Then I hear something behind me and I see this.

I had not 1 but 2 Camel spiders in my office. The pictures don't give you a true representation of the size but I had to snap fast because they are freaking fast! They aren't as big as this picture seems to imply. But, both of those camel spiders were about the size of field mice. While field mice aren't big for mice they are freaking huge for any insect that I had seen up until today.

Since they attack and kill other pests I decided to leave them be. As long as they didn't chase after me I figured I wouldn't have to shoot them.

Instant Messenger is open

Hey my IM is up and running so you can get at me if you want to!

Things you notice when you get out of Iraq

You fucking STINK! God, I didn't realize how bad I smelled. I mean I knew I smelled bad but that was smelling bad around other bad smellers. But, once you get around civilized people you realize how bad you actually smell. It was awful. I can't believe that I let myself live like that. SO GROSS. And my feet, disgusting. It was sick the things that were between my toes. I don't know what that could have been. I think it was a mix between wet cement, playdo, clay, cheese and old ham. Oh God that was bad.

If you are reading this then...

In the early morning hours of May 29 I boarded a flight that left from Iraq and landed in Kuwait. It feels so damn good to be alive again!
